Regarding software development, two key strategies can significantly impact your project’s success: incremental and iterative development. Many see iterative and incremental development as a contemporary approach, yet its roots stretch all the way back to the mid-1950s. While they might seem similar, understanding their differences and how to use them together can make all the difference.

Incremental Development

In incremental development, you break down the project into smaller, manageable pieces. Each piece, or increment, is developed, tested, and integrated into the whole system one at a time. This allows you to see tangible progress and make adjustments as needed. Imagine developing feature by feature for a software application, starting with minimal functions that you enhance with additional functionalities over time, ensuring each is fully completed before moving on to the next.
