I’ve been reflecting on the early days of my career, when Business Analysts (BAs) were primarily seen as documentation experts – capturing requirements, writing specs, and translating business needs into documents. We drafted those lengthy BRDs (Business Requirements Documents) and acted as the go-between for business and IT. Success back then was all about how complete your documents were and how accurately you could capture stakeholder requests. Still stuck in that mindset? Well, I’ve got news for you – times have changed. Today, a new paradigm is emerging – it’s a BA Renaissance!– where BAs are expected to challenge old norms, reconnect with business value, and revolutionise how organisations transform.
